Took another look on Nov. 8. NY&A loco 159 with a string of hoppers parked near the switch. On Connecticut Ave. the crossbuck is painted on the roadway but the new sign is covered. The gate on Grumman Blvd. was unlocked and open so I took a look inside. Track completed with ballast around the turn and into the straight stretch all the way to the main entrance to EPCAL. Further west, work was ongoing west of the entrance and around the curve heading north.
no more power is out there. there is just 10-15 cars spotted up by the switch. They have started grading the ballast and setting the track. Looks real nice and straight now.
switch for eastern fence is in and the spur into their yard is also laid but no ballast yet. should be interesting to see how/ where the siding for metro fuel ends up. Also I thought I read awhile back they were going to change the location of the spur to a more central point in the industrial park to better serve everyone? Seems it is just going to be for eastern fence and metro right now
Is it possible that the spur could be lengthened, have additional branches added to reach other parts of the area, or have spurs added to the existing spur as needed if business takes off? I take it it's not set in stone that only the existing spur can be used and not added to.
Searching for the eagles of the XVII,XVIII & XIX Legions in Germania.
I am sure it could be made long or have spurs off it if someone wanted. I just know I saw a thing in the paper a while back and they had a meeting in front of the riverhead building supply building and they said they wanted the spur to have a more central location though the park so others could use it. I was hoping they werent going to change the plans to suit riverhead building supply as they already have a siding in riverhead they never use. I dont know what other businesses in the park would be interested in using the spur though.
All the hoppers are gone. Tracks look real nice and they are up to the metro fuel site. there are 3 switch stands on the ground so I wonder what the configuration for metro will be
As of 12/15 it looks like they're starting work on the crossing gates. A string of hoppers is parked near the switch, and track straightening equipment in use along Connecticut Ave. The stretch of track parallel to Grumman Blvd. looks to be finished and the equipment is further west around the last turn, not much further to go. http://s1042.photobucket.com/albums/b42 ... 012-15-10/
