That article is true. I was once told, well you were new once just like them. Yes that is true, but I started out as a fireman. And there was the engineer, trainman and conductor with years experience that could help me if I needed it. Now, they are thrown out there not knowing much putting the engineer in a very bad position.

Understand I don't blame the poor new person. Right now CSX gives trainmen trainees 12 weeks. I was training for 6 months, and continue to learn to this day. Last month I had a new conductor just marked up a week before. As we were headed to service an industry, he told his trainee that he had never been there before either. 12 weeks and out ya go.
