This week, the Philadelphia Inquirer published a 4-part series on creating true High-Speed Rail (HSR) in the United States. I thought it was fairly interesting in how the reporter noted that up until now, there was little political will to provide funding for HSR, however, he also notes how inadequate the current $8 billion is inadequate compared to the expenditures in Europe for HSR. In the 4th part, the columnist discusses with University of Pennsylvania design students what is really needed to turn the Northeast Corridor into a true HSR corridor.
