Why spend 7 figures for new when you can by used passenger railroad cars for 85,000.00 (about what you would pay for a fully loaded SUV)?
Why buy a new car when you can buy a 50-year-old junker for much less?

EDIT: admittedly a couple of those bilevels look in unusually good condition. Someone will probably buy them.

1. Not exactly on topic but I dare say that streetcars and trolley buses disappeared much faster than necessary from our cities because say neighborhoods on the north side, where the tracks and overhead didn't wear out as fast, did not want to be treated as second class and wanted their share of the spanking new diesel buses just as quickly as, say neighborhoods on the west side, instead of being stuck with old trolleys, including secondhands, for a few more years.

2. Old equipment may have been left excessively filthy, or be infested with termites or other critters, or contain hazardous materials such as asbestos, or have structural members in unknown condition requiring expensive tests such as Magnafluxing.
