D&H Scranton-Carbondale

An article in the January 12, 1985 issue of the Towanda, PA Daily Review stated that the Lackawanna County Railroad Authority had signed a $1.55 million agreement to purchase 24 miles of the Delaware & Hudson Railway's former MT from Scranton to Carbondale.

Did this purchase become reality? If so, is the track still in service and who is the operator?

Yes it did.

The Delaware - Lackawanna railroad operates the service on the line.

Glad to see this bacame reality and that it is being utilized.

I live a block away from those tracks and since I have lived there I have seen increased activity and repairs to the tracks. A train runs up the line about three times a week now.
