don't change radios just because you dont hear much.. all scanners suck in that respect.they are , more of less equally poor.... look into your antenna... another subject entirely. also read thru the posts here, there is a lot to learn. nothing beats the day on amtrk when I heard a dragging equipment detector find a hotbox, then listen to the conductor and the guy discuss what to do about it.
