Just read the article. He is the MassDOT safety chief, over the MBTA safety chief Ron Ester who started in August 2020 during the Baker administration. Interesting level of redundancy, I'm assuming this is not Maura Healey giving a vote of confidence in Mr. Ester! Since he works for MassDOT not the MBTA, Lavin could theoretically live anywhere in MA...

I don't think officials should be required to live in the district, in the state should be good enough IMO. Even if they had a ride the service requirement, which I support, driving to a Commuter Rail stop to commute in is acceptable.
