And CG7876 is correct in that there are probably not 10 cars that move between Pavonia and Oak Island per year. And those would be mistakes in original delivery.

@RailsEast I’m aware of that operation. Pioneer Lines has been completely rebuilding that line in sections. It’s not like the Southern at all, in fact it’s far worse!

There are definitely areas of the Southern where repeated lateral movement of cars can be seen. I’ve seen cars move as much as 3 feet in each direction depending on location. If the FRA requires a track to have at least one good tie out of every 4-5 then I’m not sure how the Southern is considered safe as there are very few areas on this line where that is the case. Especially on top of the bridge just past Squankum, where there’s an 8-10 foot section of track with no ties in it at all!
