The 23s, among some other non EMD locos, were somewhat common until the shared assets era. A B40-8 has also been down on at least one occasion. It was one of those engines with government labor project logo on the front. That engine became MEC 5956 and I believe it's still running around somewhere. C40-8s were sometimes seen on larger trains, and at least one NS C39-8 has been down here in the 2000s I believe. There's a picture somewhere.
