Why did EMD give up on the can style control stand? I know that the pedistal stand came out about 1957.

BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE RUN ONE....) LARGER CONTACTORS, WITH SHORTER CABLE RUNS (CLOSER TO THE MAIN GENERATOR), SEALED CABINET, WITH COOLING, AND HIGHER CAPACITY ARE MY BEST GUESSES.
