These are the Sierra Railroad units -- a shame to see 40 and 44 derelict. I remember seeing 44 in service maybe in the late 1980s -- I think 40 was a parts unit even then.

Please give me serial numbers, and I'll forward complete data, and original owners, location, original road numbers, etc. (I don't remember Ozark as a renewal parts customer). Regards, Hank Rentschler

A few more details:
76092 & 3 were indeed delivered to Sierra Railroad, Jamestown, California on 2/16/55 and 2/17/55. Baldwin serial # 431 and 432 respectively, road # 40 and 42, 606A engines, nos. 6833 and 6834.

Sharon Steel S-12, was delivered on 7/23/51 to Lowellville, Ohio; serial # 111, and Road # 10. (Incidentally they had a S-8 with the same Road #). The 606A engine was Serial #5948.

All from Service Engineers' Instructions and Data, June 1960 (File No. 5) listing all Baldwins in service, and that really included all the were ever built (aside from one or two that may have been wrecked.

@joydivision350125, on the Pentrexvideo about the sierra railway you could hear a beginning engine failure on the 44 (sounds after damaged crankshaft or connecting road bearing) when the train climbs up the hill near chinese camp so probably they would have set the unit out of operation after this date.

Friction bearings, #6 brake schedule....these brokers are out of touch with reality. Or maybe they're thinking of what they could get for scrap plus non-railroad use of traction motors etc. Either way, 75K is way too high for what is essentially a museum piece.
