Is it possible for the computerized atc BART subway trains to run under a mechanical fixed automatic block traffic light system with trip arms without cab signals for speed control as found in older subway systems?

I believe your question is moot because BART trains are a wider gauge than the usual so they can't run anywhere except on BART's own tracks built to that unusual width, slightly wider than the standard gauge. :-)

It's like asking if you can convert an automatic transmission to a stick shift.

It could be done, but bad return on investment.
