More plans. Will the war in Afghanistan ever stop to allow construction, presumably of a South Asian gauge line?

I think it would be Standard gauge George , to connect to the iranian line , which is standard gauge .

If Afghanistan had a strong central government they could make a reasoned decision on what gauge to choose.

But they don't. I suspect that if railways are built they will find themselves with three gauges: South Asian; Standard (from Iran) and Russian.

Certainly be a brave company to go building there .
