For the second time in about a month, the P&W has made a revenue trip between Middletown and Hartford,CT on the former NHRR Valley Line. It appears that a breakthrough has been made in the interchange restriction imposed by CSX.

CT-1X made the first trip north on January 19th, with a load of 0 and 25 hoppers, for Murphy Road Recyclers in Hartford, then returning light to Middletown. On February 25th CT-1X made its second trip north with 9 and 0 hoppers, then returning with 0 and 25 Plate ""F" hoppers, which were shoved into the north yard at Middletown. Engineer Ed says those hoppers are HUGE. Pictures of the run can be seen at:

My connections at the P&W indicate that this move may now happen twice a week. Keep an eye out for train movement on the Valley Line.

It appears that the run between Middlwtown and Hartford will occur on THURSDAYS for the time being. CT-1 usually arrives in Middletown between 9:30 and 10:30 am each day. CT-1X should make its way northbound shortly there after.

So, if you want to see the movement be prepared to view on THURSDAYS.
