Excellent SD45 pix! Who would have thought we would ever see them again?

Why is it that NYS&W puts 5-6 engines on their SU-99/SU-100 trains? EL used to get by with 2 SD45s/U33Cs or 3 GP35/C42x/U25Bs over Gulf Summit. Are the NYS&W engines prone to breaking down en route? Or does NYS&W get cheaper fuel prices at Binghamton?

Excellent shots there! I haven't gotten up there but it is on my todolist. Looks like a real great time. And I love the weather in the shots. Really atmospheric.

Great shots!

What's the deal with that LIRR-looking coach in the background of the Butler shot?

What is the speed limit across the NYSW Southern end?

Well the reason for all the power is that the westbounds tend to be long and heavy. They have been averaging 80-100 cars and most of them are loaded construction debris cars so they tend to be very heavy. Also one of the units was being brought down to work on local trains. For the speed limit. I think the section from Pelton Rd. to Sparta Junction is 40 mph and the section from Sparta Junction all the way down to Little Ferry is 30 mph. And finally i beleive those passenger cars are for the THS and they are going to restore them and put them into tourist train service.
