Hi
I would like to know if the model in HO scale of the NYC 40ft steel sel clearing hopper by Bachmann is correct prototopically for the numbering series 862746 and for the paint scheme brown to represent correctly the mid 1950s time period ?
the bachman hoppers catalogue n. is 17620
thanks very much for your reply

NYC hopper 862746 was painted freight car brown with white stenciling - BUT...
...it was a 2-bay rib side car (9 ribs) of 31' 6" inside length.
Does that match your Bachmann model? I'm not familiar with it.

There is even more to this story. As originally built by DSI in 1940 it was an offset side car. It was rebuilt by Greenville between 1953-1957 as a rib side car.

So it appears the model is not correct on several counts.
