Nice photos! From the turnpike last night I observed what looked like two DME/ICE SD40-3's as I went by the Chemical Coast.

I don't know if "& Eastern" means all the way to New Jersey, but I'm not complaining, and she sure looks good.....

Nice catch, there was a set of ICE units in Sewaren over New Years. Are these units becoming a bit more "common" around these parts? Also caught a SOO unit over the summer.

Also, what are what look like red warning stickers on the hood of 2596?

Erik, the red labels designate the "Autostart Equipped" locomotives; those units with this feature can automatically shut down and re-start (via computer control) during extended idling periods to reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. I've seen a few road units with this feature, but do not know how common it is in the fleet.

And, yes, it seems like lease/foreign power is showing up almost daily as of late, instead of once or twice a week....

RailsEast, again coming through with the odd engines i spot and don't have a camera ready for. i spotted the DM&E up near Ikea but i was on the turnpike and couldn't stop. Nice pictures!

It looked much more like Iowa or Illinois on the 'Coast today; lots of color to brighten a mostly gloomy day.........

Nice shots! Especially the middle one! Are in in New Jersey anymore?

The two UP units went up to Carteret at 3:00pm, to wait for a road crew to head west; the three SD40s were still in Sewaren as of 4:00pm today, and will presumably still be there until sometime tomorrow.
