Appears to be for gravel pit. Ties for new siding are MDOT. PAR old ties (some burned) still near row for what looks like at least a quarter mile and brush cut recently.

Is the place you are talking about off Route 142 on the western side of the town (the part of Northfield to the West of the Connecticut River)?

Yes. Those piles of old ties need to be removed yesterday.
