This morning on the River Line, a train was moving SB onto the Kingston siding pulled by CSX 6423 (gp40-2), CSX 2201 (slug), HLCX 9013 (sd40m-2). Boy, 6423 and 2201 sure could use fresh paint. Lots of rusty splotches.

Yet the two above engines probably run and pull just as well as a fresh
painted engine(s).

Those slug sets aren't all that bad. Good pullers, but occasionaly have a problem building air. Probably a result of some cockamammy design CSX dreamed up.
