Can you buy a outside car antenna for an Motorola MT 1000?

there is a antenna adaptor that lets you plug in any outside antenna
NTN5368A for the universal connector(top of radio)
or RAF4001AG which screws on where portable antenna is.

Thanks !! I currently have an MT 1000 that I use to communicate with the local PD and is programed for all their channels. I have a 3 inch stubby antenna that usually recieves OK but have had comments that my tranmission are somewhat statically. The antenna recommended, does is matter what MHZ my radio with or will it work with all? Can you suggest a place to get it? Thanks for the help.

The best solution is the Motorola NTN5368A adapter. It provides a 3.5mm plug connection so the NKN6408A cable kit is recommended for use with it to provide a standard "UHF" type connector. These are available from any Motorola 2way radio shop.

You would then need a vehicle mounted antenna for the frequency band the radio operates on. This would also be best obtained from a 2way dealer if you are not sure what you need.

I am not familliar with the RAF4100AG but any adapters I have seen that claim to work in place of the antenna are useless since they provide no ground connection and present a high risk of electrical and mechanical damage to the radio.

Contact HRO or AES. I've dealt with both in Florida and California in the commercial and amateur aspect of radio eqpt. They have been around for years and can lead you in the right direction.

Have your Moto shop check the antenna connection inside the radio. It's a very common fault with this radio that greatly affects your power output & receive sensitivity

I operate a 99-ch railroad model in my car with the MVA & external antenna/external speaker. The Canadian-only channels have been reprogrammed my local Public Safety channels.
