A thread in the Yahoo LocoNotes group had this link to a picture in RRPictureArchive. The caption says "The consist for the Denzel Washington movie "Unstoppable" is seen parked on the WNYP's Allegany siding siding near the Olean yard waiting for shooting to start on the WNYP's Buffalo Line. AVR 767 is on the other end of the train."

Anyone know about what's going on with this? If it's true, how long will they be shooting in the area or on the WNYP?

Very interesting. That would appear to be a CP AC4400CW in disguise. With traffic down obviously there are newer sidelined locomotives to be had for such duty. In past deals like this the movie studio pays to repaint the locomotives when the shoot is wrapped. Still, it's a shame two big ALCo's were not used; they could have had a free paint job when done.

According to the LocoNotes group they are:

767 is CP 9758 AC4400CW
777 is CP 9777 AC4400CW

They've been repainted (obviously) and have had numberboards added at the top of the cab and the usual nose ones blanked out.

Just what the railroads of this country need, another movie sensationalizing a runaway train and stoking the public's fears. And what better place to do this than on the Buffalo Line, where the real thing happened not too long ago?

Apparently they are storing a lot of the locomotive doubles and extras at the WNYP Olean, NY yard while most of the movie shooting is being done in PA.

Some newly posted pics:

Pretty snazzy paint jobs on the 767 and 777 - http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=1746773

It's too bad these are rather fuzzy.

Yes, and where they were filming the other day is right down.....and up the track from where the NS ran off the rails. As they have been filming from Emporium to Port Allegany. Eldred and Turtlepoint. As well as Olean.

Today they did the filming with the kids in the 4th grade from Eldred Elementary School. Those kids were on that train for hours. I want to know how they kept them from bouncing off the walls. As well, they will be filming more of the kids in Olean tomorrow.
Here is what I got earlier today.

Here in the fifth one....if you have a good eye...you will see the Units 777 and 767 are both on the lead and tail.

Tomorrow (09-11-09) they are scheduled to be filming in Olean next to the mall and North Union street(Route 16). Following they will be in Turtlepoint, PA next week. They are to have the whole town (what town there is) locked down for 3 days of filming. They will be smashing and wrecking many different things......cars, trucks, haywagons.......and.....up in the air as of today.......some railroad equipment....as in locos and other rolling stock. They might hold off on that and do it around Pittsburgh. This is what I have been told from different people with the production crew.....doesn't mean it's correct info though.

As a note. Today as I was driving around trying to get pics/video of the two sets of engines....777 & 767 sitting side by side, or at least next to each other, to prove that there are in fact two sets painted the same......I was told by one of the production guys that I need to do a little better job of finding them. Because, he said there is 3...sets painted the same. Which is possible and makes sense for what they are doing. Also, in less you saw them together you would never know that it wasn't the same two engines in a set, and that there wasn't any others.

So, now my goal is to first prove that there is a set of twins.......and then prove that there is a third set..........

Well, it took me awhile, but here it is. Proof that there are a set of twins. So above we see what the CP numbers are, but for only two engines. What's the CP numbers for the other set?
