Heads up for VRE riders who connect to Metro at L'Enfnat Plaza

The 7th Street/Maryland Avenue entrance will be closed for approximately seven months in order to replace the escalators, the surrounding granite and a beam.

Since these escalators have a canopy to protect them, they don't break down as frequently as the ones at Capitol South that doesn't have a canopy. Those 3 escalators are also being replaced, but the station remains open. WMATA should install a canopy at this station.

Does this project have anything to do with the eventual track work and platform work at the station?

The escalator replacement is taking place in the 7th and Maryland Avenue entrance to the L'Enfant Plaza Metrorail Station.

It has no connection to any planed projects at the L'Enfant Plaza VRE Station.
