Major locomotive damage in CSX derailment

CSX had a bad derailment in Lilesville, Anson County NC yesterday. The crew are ok but NINE locomotives were damaged including 4 NRE exports. Lead unit 3459 derailed but upright, 370+5411+6092+6001+NREX 125+124+122+123 all derailed and overturned

The NREX units were SD40-3 rebuilds for Guinea in Africa


The derailment is believed to have been caused by hurricane related damage

Perhaps CSX should have taken a cue from Amtrak and suspended operations until MoW could inspect everything?

knucklehead error by the railroad. record hurricane, then run trains, what could possibly go wrong?

On a scheduled railroad the schedule is the one and only consideration. A little loco damage here and there will never affect achieving the desired model of operational excellence.

That "stupid" Hedge Fund will write off the CSX power,Cargo claims pays off NRE for the wrecked units,some junk yard will get the remains for scrapping.
Should have waited for MW to OK the track for service,this was avoidable wreck.

"Operational Excellence"? That is a far-removed concept for CSX! We used to call 'em, "The Slowboard Clothesline", and "The Derailment Road"!

Assuming the crew as ok, couldn't happen in a better part of the country; the confederate south.
