Hi all,

I am trying to put together a list of "mainline" steam locomotives. I am looking for locomotives that are either running (i.e. SP 4449), or that have run in the past (i.e. SSW 819). So far, I have the following:

ATSF 3751 San Bernardino RR Hisorical Society
MILW 261 Friends Of 261
NKP 765 Ft. Wayne Railroad Historical Society
NW 611 NS Railroad
SOO 2719 Chippewa Valley Railroad Historical Society
SP 4449 Friends Of The 4449
SP 2472 Golden Gate Railroad Museum
SP&S 700
SSW 819
UP 844 & UP 3985 UP Railroad

What are some other locomotives that should be added to this list? I thought that NS had 2 steam locomotives in their program before they ended it.

Thanks for any additions or corrections,
BJR

Don't forget Valley Railroad's #97 and #40. They ran mailine trips on the old New Haven and P&W, and #97 ran on the Vermont Railway back in the early 1960's

I do believe that the GTW 5629 was scrapped. Non-payment of storage fees. To bad, she was a good engine.

Hey, here is one. Although it is still in a meusem. It is C&O #1601, an Allengeny, possibily worked the Northern Michigan C&O Line which currently is under CSX Control and runs through Plymouth, Northville, and Novi, Michigan.

Yes, GTW 5629 was scrapped. So was CB&Q 5632. I assume the list refers to steam engines run on main lines since the end of regular use of steam power (ca. 1960).
