Southbound, after Avon yard switching, #425 and #421 respectively, and 20+ cars. Crossing gates and lights were inoperable at Main St. in Avon, so the crew protected the crossing and proceeded with LAL Employees blocking the highway with MOW vehicles.

MARCH 17, AVON, N.Y. - This morning, I met LAL 421 and 425 at Avon, watched them set out cars for Avon. Met several fans this morning, including our intrepid moderator.

Wandered over to Kraft Foods to watch the set-outs.

What is the name of the grain company down there outside of Avon? I Shot the train northbound through there.

Met him again at Martin Crossing, and broke off the chase to head over to RIT.

Looks like 421 is destined for paint soon. Noticed primer and body work around the cab, and it looks like someone took a needle scaler to the flanks- the Maine Central lettering was clearly visible this morning!

Southbound trip was chased by Otto and a gang from the RIT Club, into Avon and dropped cars. South out of Avon with 19 cars, and happy railfans snapping shots the whole way to the Lakeville yard. #425 was leading #421.

Back to work for me. To Washington tomorrow!

I caught the southbound move at the LV overpass in Rush. Had been biking the LV Trail and just happened to arrive at the overpass at train time (approx 2:10 PM)...

Shot of #425: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... ?id=327200

and #421: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... ?id=327202

Can someone confirm the model of LAL #421 (C420 or ???)

Thanks!! ...FB
