12/4/06 Caught the southbound going across the Genesee River bridge and being passed by a CSX autorack train on the parallel tracking from Genesee River to the Mortimer turn. #425 leading #420 and 16 cars. After the last cars crossed Jefferson Rd. they ran the engines light down the Lehigh spur to Matthew and Fields. Upon return they headed south to Avon dropping cars and Mrs. Railwatcher counted 10 cars headed to Lakeville.

12/8/06 WNYP #432 and LAL #420, with cabs facing the same direction, headed into Avon with around 33 cars before 9am. A stop was made at the Avon yard and then headed north. The southbound train, I missed would have been lead by #420 long nose forward.

This means 432 was recently turned (most likely on the R&S.)

When 432 arrived it was facing south and as you describe it, it is now facing north.

Also note that the 420 is configured for long nose forward operation.

Luther, the turn around of #432 had to have happened between 10/5/06 and 11/1/06 according to my library of pictures. On 10/5/06 #432 was longnose north and on 11/1/06 #432 was longnose south.

Wednesday 12/27/06 Todays northbound rolled into Avon with 13 cars. Lead engine was #420 with #425 following.

Southobund from Avon was the usual reversed engine order with 9 cars. I didnt see any yard activity today but not saying it didnt happen. This was the first trip to/from Genesee Juntion since last week and the holiday.

19 cars rolled into Avon behind #420 & #425 around 9:15 am. Doesnt appear to be making stops in Avon on the northbound run 12/29/06.

Caught them briefly this afternoon!
crossing the Genesee.
sadly I didnt have time for anymore chasing.

For some reason they left the train at the junction behind Southtown plaza, then ran the engines light to Genesee Junction..not sure why.
anyone know?

They did go down the Lehigh spur to Matthew and Fields Lumber and it was quite possible you saw them pick up their load to drop, before they went to retrieve the empty center beam car that I saw them add to the train as it sat behind Southtown Plaza.

and yes, Luther, I think your right. But, then you never know.

Happy New Year!

It is so nice to see these refreshing images. I'm currently in New York City for the holidays.
