For those that enjoy lodging near the tracks at places like the Station Inn in Cresson(where I am a frequent guest) there is a Quality Inn in Enola, across from the Enola Yards where I also lodge frequently. Not quite as close to the tracks as in Cresson, but interesting nonetheless. If you ask for an upstairs room facing the Railroad, on the south end,(In the low 200's) you will be able to look across 11/15 and see the crest of the Hump. To the right you will see the Dieselhouse. Right now, I am watching a cut of cars being shoved over the hump, and cars drifting down to their new trains....and instead of turning on the scanner in the room, I go to railroad radio.net, and select the Harrisburg Line-Harrisburg feed, and can listen to all the action on my computer. The Hotel allows dialup laptop service. Dave Williams http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nsaltoonajohnstown

Prices vary. I paid 62.99 a night single this past weekend....it can average as much as 79.99 and forget about paying a decent rate during Carlisle and Hershey Major events...it can skyrocket to $100 a night then. I choose the off times of year so don't pay the exorbidant rates. Best view of Yards is this time of year, when leaves are down, as trees along the edge of yard can impede some of the view when leaves are in place. They give AAA, Senior and some other discounts, I got a discount because I am a frequent repeater. Again, if you want to see the Yards, ask for a 2nd floor room facing the Railroad, low 200 even numbered rooms are best. Here is a link to that hotel: http://www.calle.com/world/US/PA/enola/ ... rview.html It will give some info.Room I stay in is upstairs behind the white van in picture on link. I have found when I call that the rate was sometimes lower than what was listed in the link, though this is not always the case. Dave Williams http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nsaltoonajohnstown
