I'm writing a short article about our Erie milk car 6603. I'm trying to trace road numbers into EL and CR (when it was used for MW storage). Here's the snag, there's some speculation we may have Erie 6609, not Erie 6603. Ours is a steel car, built June 1935, equipped with high-speed trucks, steam and air lines. Anybody know who built these cars for Erie? Any info appreciated. Thank you!

Otto,

Your car is definitely Erie 6603. It was repainted and relettered EL 6603 at Susquehanna (12-12-60) and continued primarily in express service on passenger and mail trains on the EL and off-line. Photos show these cars (EL and Erie with inside sliding doors) also being used in milk service on the Sussex Branch in 1963-64. EL renumbered the car 419011 in April 1970 for work service and that is how it went into Conrail.
