It really happened! Two little GE centercabs, replacing the two C628s normally assigned to the job. It's interesting that anybody even began to think that two Centuries, the equivalent of an SD40, could be replaced by a locomotive that is one step up from a trackmobile.

I'm imagining the conversation between the crew and the dispatcher right before they stepped out the door to see these two for the first time...

engineer: "Hey, what kind of power do we have to shove the dock today?"
dispatcher: "Uh, well, about that..."
supervisor interrupting: "You're in for a treat today, boys - four brand-new engines instead of two old ones!"
