I'm just wondering, is there any possible way the locos could be put back in operating condition and sent up here to the mbta?

With your new dustbusters coming in? Doubtful. These engines would need a TON of work to be roadworthy again-the ones that have already been taken away, that is.

Ok, thanks. If we don't get those new locos it's gonna be a long winter up here in Boston for the mbta. But that's a seperate discussion. Interesting they stuck all the dead equipment on an industrial track. I'm not to familiar with NJT ops so I don't know if this is common or not

If everyone reads back to the top of Page 6, we can see that the 4144 and 4218 (among others) are rumored to have gone bye bye nearly two weeks ago. I have heard that the 4106 disappeared from Garwood a few days ago. No word on what else may have gone at the same time.

If the T coughed up enough cash to buy any of them from the scrapper and fix whatever needed to be fixed, then yes. But some of these are too far gone. Some of them could probably run for another 10-15 year life with a complete rebuild, but at that point, the T may as well rebuild their F40s that are facing retirement.

Knowing the little I know about the T and what I know about NJT, whats too far gone for NJT is probably better than some of the stuff that the T is actually running! LOL

ns3010 we are getting new locos up here but it won't be before winter ends. But that's for an entirely seperate discussion in the mbta forum haha. Is there anyway I can get an airhorn from one of the locos? I could use it with the traffic I see up here sometimes. :)

4138 & 4143 were pulled out of Garwood today. Here is the equipment move in Hillside with 4216 & 4105 bracketing the two dead units:

And 4138:

I assume 4138 is Sandy Damaged with all that rust below the frame, while 4143 spent some time in Canada. Seems kinda funny that they are taking them from random places in the middle of that dead line. 4127 was ahead of them. I take it the FH's are going first for the most part, despite all being destined for scrap?

Gonna miss all those noisebox FH's once they are gone.

Is 4105 still revenue?

No, work service only.

4105 actually delivers them to the scrapper? Or is there a handoff to NS or CSX?

If I have this right, the order is something like (from west to east):
4141 (facing east)
4136
4142
4127
4218
4128
4107 (facing east)
4122
4137
4144
4114
4201
4129
4111
4135
4118
4106
4121
4117

Everything that was ever there is listed, except for the 4138 and 4143 which are confirmed gone. I left everything else on the list since no one seems to be completely sure what's gone and what's still there...
