FCAB EMD with cardan shafts

Recently I was wisiting FCAB workshops in Antofagasta in Chile.
One unusual type of locos are in use for shunting in the port.
The first time ever I have seen such a disign. Rail guage is 1000 mm.

These are EMD GA8 export units built in November 1964. FCAB had (has?) 3 of them, 950-952. They are similar to domestic SW8s. Another export derivative, the GL8, had more conventional B-B or A-1-A trucks.
