I really hate the E having R32s. Give 'em the the F, or share R38s with the A and C.

You're right, the R32s on the E don't make any sense, or any other pre-R44 consist. That line is TOTALLY in tunnels, not ONE bit is at open air. The F should get the E's corner cab cars, since that line is open air in the Brooklyn end along with the Smith/9th Super Flyover.

Rob: Is all this just wishful thinking on your part, or do you have some actual info that some changes along these "lines" might actually happen soon?

Well Rob, you'd probably get about the same reception from NYCTA re: car assignements, as you might get from MBTA if you suggested that they remove the ad's from the front windows and run 70 MPH to Braintree !! But we can keep hoping !!

You're right, that's true...

And yes, a LONG time ago, Braintree trains DID go 70 mph down that line until the late 80s when it got cutback to 40-50 mph.

Also, have you been on the Staten Island Railroad yet lately? I think they are using LIRR-style M1 cars there in addition to the R44.

Where'd ya' hear that Rob? I'm not aware of anything other than R-44/46 type cars being used there. But maybe someone from Staten Island would have more recent info. Last time I rode that line was about 2 years ago. And of course you can't see much, so it was a bummer anyway. Only rode halfway down and back. But S.I. Ferry is always a good ride. You can stand right up on the ship's bow on the upper level. Right on! First rode it with my Dad as a little kid in the late 1950's and been hooked ever since. :-D

Too bad a Clark built BMT Bluebird trainset wasn't saved. Of all the car models that were long gone before my time, the Bluebird is the one I'm most curious about.

I like the R-40 slant ends because they're uniquely designed and have a nice big front end window to look out of.

i like the R38 best,i think the halfstremlining looks nicer than the full stremlined R32s(although theyre nice too).

I voted the R32s. Fun riding cars! :-)

Even though the R32's generally have really bad brakes, really old everything, they are still the fastest, sweetest, coolest trains ever. Plus, it was made before all of these "rail-fan limitations" were put into effect, so it's a lot more fun to just ride and watch outside the window of the A while going at 70 mph on the bridge to Far Rockaway...

I still remember when it went at least 50+ mph just on the strip between 125th and 59th...

The R-38's are just too screechy whenever they stop you hear a big screech, now is that because of their age, or do they just need some oil?
