Fate of "THE CHALEUR"?

Last I read, CFBC wants to liquidate and is giving first crack at purchasing the trackage to the Municipalities it serves. I don't know what direction that's taking.

Anybody know what the fate of "The Chaleur" is forecast as being?

I keep hearing this may be the last year of operation, but that's been rumored before. We shall see if tha comes to reality.

Looks like the line used by Via Rail's “Chaleur” will be saved.

Last weekend the Quebec City newspaper “Le Soleil" reported that the Federal and Provincial governments are providing $35 million funding to the Corporation du chemin de fer de la Gaspésie which will allow them to purchase the Matapedia-Chandler rail line. The Corporation is owned by Municipalities along the line. It already owns the line the Chaleur uses east of Chandler to Gaspe.
