Thanks viahogger! Those are some great photos of a two fine looking units! I for one, am looking forward to seeing the rest of the units done. Although I will admit, I will miss the old F40 paint scheme....I suppose the best time will be the transition time, when about half the units are done, and half aren't....then we'll have some great variety.

Are you sure 6454 was rebuilt? I've heard 6452 was undergoing rebuild.

That could be the 6452,I can try to get more fresh informations ont that, because I eard about that too, that could be the 6452 instead of the 6454..

Quite handsome locomotive. I really like the elimination of the catwalk, makes it look more like a true passenger locomotive than a spruced-up freight unit! VIA once again shows Amtrak that with proper maintenance and reconstruction, equipment can be maintained well beyond their expected service lives.

Nice Pics Montrealrail....... However.....
Good luck ! I can Not get Jason to do the renaissance cars so Im doing them myself so is timberley ( were still a work in progress). a repainted F40 with an extend cab seems simple since there are so many F40 shells available ( bachmann/lifelike/walthers/kato), However Jason would do his from ground up for pure perfection.

It would still be a good bit of work. I've been working on finally making my Walthers F40's accurate for VIA Rail's pre-rebuild version, and that has been enough for me right now! Doing 6400 would be fairly easy, just mostly the same basic VIA modifications, and then new paint with P42 decals....the rest of them would be a bit more though, what with adding the extra headlight and the extended cab (and having to make your own "A Green Choice/Un Choix Vert" decals). I have been contemplating though, how to do that extended cab.... but I might first tackle an easier project, like adding the 3rd headlight to my P42!

And of course, thanks again Montrealrail for those great pictures, and the update!

I get lot of pics like these, cause it's on my project to do one like this..
Friends of mine are in progress to do for me the 6400,but we get some P42 defectuous decals(we buyed 8 of these and soon in the water, the decals come in many pieces and unusable)

For now I get this F40 with the old paint scheme..

But,just after holidays,I will get a new F40 to do the rebuilt,Walthers are the best to do it..
