Hi my family and I are planning a Canadian adventure.
Route: Old Quebec City, then Montreal, maybe Toronto, and finally Niagra Falls.

I plan to visit Expo Rail while visiting Montreal based on what I've learned from the website. We have a 10 month old, so being able to use the small "umbrella" stroller should work fine here.

Are there any other interesting scenic/historical railroads we should consider. How about model trains?

Thanks for any reply

And around Ottawa, there a steam train, making some ride for the public.I wil try to get more info for the steam train and as soon I get some,I will put in the tread for further information and for everyone..

for nice scenics,I strongly recommand to make a round trip around Montreal city, all around, you can find a lot of place where you can get a close view to the train, and also, some scenics viewing...
here 3 videos,to give you a small idea of Montreal's railfanning spots..

Montrealrail,
Thanks for the great info!
The video you have is nice! I greatly look forward to Exporail and taking their trolley ride this July.

I also found a trolley museum "Halton County Radial Railway" just outside of Toronto. From the website, it seems top notch. Any experience about this location?

I prefer to go to museum-type railfan spots since I will be with my wife and young daughter.

There's a great place too but it's a bit outside of Montreal, cause is almost 2 hour of road,it'S called Smithfalls, where we can find some kind of nices shots, and a more bit closer,at Côteau and deBeaujeu,30 minutes away from west end Montreal, right after Vaudreuil and Dorion,at Côteau station,we can observe the 326 and 327 doing some switching, also, some CSX or NS trains around,at De Beaujeu, close by,there a diamond, where starting the Alexandria sub and where we can see some CN and CP stocks passing by..

I'm going to thoses place next saturday,so I can get some great pic to show everyone a good idea of theses places.

Halton County is top notch - a great collection, ranging from a replica open car, to Peter Witts, PCCs, and full-sized intertubans, all operating on the TTC gauge of 4' 10 7/8". Check them out at: http://www.hcry.org/

Other spots include: The Toronto Railway Historical Museum at the old John St. Roundhouse in Toronto (http://www.trha.ca/museum.html, and the South Simcoe Railway in Tottenham, Ontario. They have a pair of CPR steamers, but are using a GE 70-tonner for now.

But my favourite by far is Port Stanley Terminal Rail http://www.pstr.on.ca/, in Port Stanley. Have been a shareholder and volunteer on this seven-mile line for 24 years now, so I may be biased. It's purely a diesel operation, with converted cabooses to carry passengers. Most trains operate over the first four miles of this former interurban line, though special trips are made to St. Thomas, which is also home to the Elgin County Railway museum http://www.ecrm5700.org/.

If you're passing by Ottawa, the Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield Steam train makes for a great day trip http://www.steamtrain.ca/intro_en.asp, and there's also the National Museum of Science and Technology

Hope this helps - while you're visiting Canada, we'll be heading to Owosso, MI for Train Festival 2009, and catching some tourist lines south of the Great Lakes.
