CSX 8661 never had snubbers on the center axles of the trucks because they are Flexicoil trucks, which never had this feature. It is the HT-C truck which had the snubber on the center axle. All Conrail SD50's except for those in the last order were built with the older Flexicol C truck, same as the Conrail SD40-2 fleet. This was at the request of the railroad after accidents involving Amtrak SDP40F's were initially blamed on the HT-C trucks.
