I see where BNSF & NS have recently installed digital cameras and microphones in locomotives, to record every trip for accident-investigation reasons. Recently UP has followed suit. I guess they record air horns, RR crossing gates, lights, etc, and pictures of the track ahead.
I wonder if Amtrak ever considered such?

I was thinking it would be kind of neat, rather than have trackside digital cameras to record trains, to have the cameras aboard just to record entire routes...such as the more scenics ones..the Empire Builder,
Zephyr, etc. It would be fun if they put up a viewer, on the Amtrak site, to view, in real time, the entire daylight-hours route.

That would be neat!

But sadly, I'm sure Amtrak doesn't have the money to do it.

I've seen commercial videotapes and DVDs shot from a cab. Might be some of interest to you.
