Apparently there was a derailment yesterday on the Rumford Branch, in the town of Leeds. There's a short article in the Lewiston Sun, but you have to register to read it on their web site.

To paraphrase, the train derailed about 2200 hrs at routes 219 and 106, one car flopped over the rest derailed blocking the road. Thats about all it says, maybe more will be released tomorrow.

De Costers is right at the junction of those 2 routes, and highway crossing is on 219. Wonder if derailment happened during switching the feed mill??

2200 is awful late for PORI,or PORU!) that normally switches the mill. Late also for RIPO.

May take a run up there Friday, as I have to be in Livermore Falls.

Lewiston paper also mentioned an 11 Car derailment on the NECR in Putney VT. Coal loads and Carbon Dioxide. Paper mill there evacuted for a while. Thats all info.

Went up there this AM. No sign of overturned car,but plenty of feed on the ground, and plenty of birds to hamper the MOW guys, who were working on the switch that divides DeCosters siding into 2 tracks, mainline looked clear.
