I saw it yesterday with 2 empthy bulk-head flats between the engine and the buggy. I am assuming the flats had comein loaded with cross-ties.

I saw 904 sandwiched between two plows and a buggy. I wondered if the old girl had enough power to move let alone plow snow by the sound of it!

Every few days when I go by the BET, 904 is running and absolutely dumping smoke out her stacks.
I can't imagine that she is running too well.

A GP-40 Has been out of service all day i belive 1149 not sure it was a full working train behind it it was there at 10:00 this morning and still there at 3 this afternoon on track 4

There is no 1149....That was the 1139 you saw, which was used to drag
in an inbound Lowell this afternoon after the 1130 finally gave it up in
Somerville. The 1029,1124 and 1129 were also bad boys today.

Let's face it...this brutal winter is taking its toll. Servicing ice/snow
encrusted trainsets, even inside, can't be easy.

The 3247 was outside at the west end today, but who knows if its in
service. The 904 was made up on the work train, which is probably
going to Fitchburg tomorrow unless in "rescue mode".

Three new K-Cars were on the Valley Track at BET hooked up to a
GP40MC. No word on any mainline testing.

Thanks for the update I was on the train when I saw it and I had a bad window so I really couldn't see the number. The one I saw at 10:00 must have been a different train but i'm pretty sure it was on the same track as the one in the afternoon.Do know what Lowell train was the one that broke down Train Number or Time of depuature.

It was No.322...

Not directly related to current MBTA commuter rail power, but...

There is a recent picture of the 3 former MBTA FP10s in the current (February 2005) issue of Railpace Magazine on page 35.
Units 1106, 1112, and 1150 are shown. Their current paint job is a little boring, but they are in service and that's pretty cool. They, along with 1105 and 1108, are all on the tourist line Idaho Northern & Pacific. The operating status of 1105 and 1108 is not given.

Well the 1051 is out back with the dead line units covered in oil.
The nose and left side of the unit is streaked badly. Don't know
what happened...as yet...

Meanwhile, the 3247 is back in service.

The 1139 is making time with the new Kawasakis.

Anyone know if 1036 is back yet??? Also, what went wrong for 1051 to bathe herself in oil??

  by Stephen

1051 did not appear to be on the 'dead line' side of the BET today.
Perhaps it was pulled inside for repairs.
