something smells funny here. Spending someone elses money to maintain operating rights on track that may never be activated?
Not too surprising that its hard to get any info. I cud be wrong, but I'm just saying. Seen this happen before.

Would u believe...this is true...right before passenger service ended on the Northern Br, Welded rail was laid for intended installation between Ridgefied and the NJ state line. yes...there were 30 car and 60 car welded rail trains on the northern,. The started installation on the east (south) end. Then passenger service ended, and all the rail was picked up. I heard it was all a use it or lose it grant, or a tax dodge. This whole thing on the Southern sounds so similar.

-RUMOR has it that both leased units are to be used for the sand hauling operation out of Woodmansie. I can't say for sure, we'll have to wait and see what happens. I think it would be cool to see both units used on this year's upcoming Santa trains! That could just be wishful thinking but again, we'll have to wait and see what happens.

-I did hear something about the LV F units being sent out. I'm not sure where or when.

It's sad to see the "LV" units leave. I think they have been well cared for under Tony's watch. Hope they come back in at least the same shape.

My HO scale pair are safe here in the Delaware Valley.

-The two LV F units that were leased to Cape May Seashore Lines came up from Tuckahoe to Camden last night on WPCA-51. This morning, both F units were spotted along side of the engine house in Pavonia Yard:

If they have SLRG markings, the F units are likely being leased to The San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad (SLRG), part of Iowa Pacific. More details on the railroad can be found at website below. Be sure to click on the live video link to their yard. Maybe we'll see the F units there one day?

From what I heard they are coming down here to North Carolina (where I live now) to work the Piedmont and Northern. The P&N had two F40PH from the San Luis and Rio Grande working freight before they were damaged in a grade crossing accident (they hit a Garbage Truck). Apparently they unit will be in use until the F40PHs can be repaired.

Here are the two units down in Belmont, NC pulling an excursion special back in January.

Here is an article about the crash:
