It was announced earlier today that the head of NYC Transit is retiring after nearly 2 years on the job.

The man praised for leading the subway system through Hurricane Sandy announced his retirement Tuesday. Carmen Bianco, 63, president of New York City Transit, is leaving his post at the helm of the largest segment of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s system in August after nearly two years on the job.

"I am no longer just a girl on the train, going back and forth without point or purpose."
