I have a cast model of a C&O Allegheny type steam engine. It is 10 inches long including the tender and looks as if it could be pewter. It's on a cast base inscribed LIMA HAMILTON CORPORATION IN 1/4" letters- the second line of the base reads THE CHESAPEAKE AND OHIO RAILWAY COMPANY 'ALLEGHENY' TYPE in 1/8" letters.

Does anyone know anything about a model such as this?

Sure - - - those were give-away paperweights. After the L-H merger in 1947, and just before all steam was discontinued, in favor of diesels. The "pewter" were for most customers; "gold" were specials for Directors, and key Officers. Regards,
