Who was he? And why is the 7312 named after him?

Bernie O'Brien was a Road Foreman of Engines (the supervisor of engine crews), and he is now a retired RFE. The 7312 was given his name in tribute to his loyal service and ability to keep it all together during the lean times. That was not easy.

I was at a retirement party with Bernie about a year ago, and we had a good time.
