I'm more interested in how it says that they'll be used only on the following lines:
Paoli/Thorndale
Media/Elwyn
Wilmington/Newark
West Trenton
EXCEPT for midday runs, where they'll apparently make some connecting trips across lines or "help Silverliner IVs." Do the IVs need help? Are they that terrible now? It has been almost 50 years...

They already have. My phone speedometer hit 90 mph on the GVF last week. Take that how you will.
Note that they said Regional tracks which I would interpret to mean NOT the Keystone and NEC's. Given that, the only real stretch of SEPTA owned RR where they might hope to achieve that speed would be the West Trenton Line between Noble and Philmont.

Yeah, who knows what they mean by that, but most of these articles don't get things right to begin with.
Also they mention the AEM-7's will be in service until October, so hopefully we have until then to shoot them.

For those of us who also enjoy SEPTA on a smaller scale, the HO Bachmann models of SEPTA 901 are out. MB Klein in Maryland has them in stock.

I'd be curious to see if, when SEPTA gets 8 of the Sprinters in service, they make a deal with NJT to lease the SEPTA surplus locomotives while NJT deals with a locomotive / cab car shortage in their attempt to meet the PTC deadline in December. It would be the last swan song for the AEM-7's if they could get leased to NJT, they are already PTC equipped if I'm not mistaken

NPL: Interesting thoughts about the fate of SEPTA's eight AEM7/ALP44 motors...

I believe that leasing them out to NJT depends on how fast SEPTA can place eight ACS64s into
service upon delivery and completion of testing to make any sort of difference to NJT which is
as noted having their own problems meeting the PTC deadline.

They could even have an "afterlife" on NJT (or even Amtrak) as backup or work power.
It all depends on whether they will be needed or have a future use...

Mine arrived today. Very nice model. MB Klein sold out in one day.

Per a friend at the scene, five more City Sprinters were delivered to Septa by CSX this afternoon at Woodbourne.

WOW. I believe that Siemens is ahead of schedule on the deliveries. That is almost ( if not ) the entire initial order.

I wish we still had that set of Comet Is so that there could be more push pulls with all of these engines.
