Ask and ye shall receive:

(Note that this is the Ohio Brass version. I'm sure that other companies made this item also, perhaps shaped differently.)

You didn't quite answer the question, Josh, but your post is excellent with the only fault being defining the "pans". I believe that your photo does indeed show "wire protectors" to shield the overhead from debris. This is not the function of the pan-like objects seen on our phot...

I think that we have resolved the points for questions answered issue to everyone's satisfaction - (??) That could be the answer Leo, the problem here being that without a date to rely on, even if we knew when the Meridian was out, we wouldn't know if it was out when our photo was taken except that ...

It is confusing, there's no doubt about it. First up, the #117 did go over the Meridian Street Bridge. It's documented. (see p.168, Bradley Clarke's "Streetcar Lines of the Hub" book or a vintage MTA map and route listing). However, from the photos I am looking at, I have to agree with you...

and for that matter , the Meridian street bridge YES ! Nicely done, Kev !!! You perceptively recognized the Meridian Street Bridge ! 10 points ! This was one of those questions where, if you didn't know Eastie, that you'd have to know the car's route, then go to a pocket map guide or a station map....

I'm glad that you enjoy them, Fan ! I've just been around for a while and what I haven't picked up is bolstered by a very extensive library in my study which I am very proud of. Seems like we're at a slump. Let me see if I can stimulate things by throwing out a few clues. The following words or phra...

Alrighty, that was a mighty effort Joe, and I really wanted to give you the points, but... (Do you want to expand #9 ?) As the chill said to the air, I'll tell you what I'm going to dew. Here's a couple of clues. Regarding the logo, my dashes are the appropriate dashes where the logo's commonly used...

Good morning, gentlemen ! I see active traction minds have been working ! Ok, Joe, we'll start with you. You wiped out on #1. #3 you nailed ! Great deduction and correct for #5, and if you'll notice, it appears as if the tanker has just sailed under the bridge as it is travelling in the opposite dir...

OK, guys. let's take a look here; Mr. SP - You got #2 (117), #4 (It is down presently), and you know your trucks, #7 = 30 %. Domenic - You won #3 which was pretty good as I don't have it as the answer. I should of referred to his left foot. Since his right foot is indeed on the anti-climber, my omis...

Ok, here's another quiz. Love this pic ! ( Larger version via link below. ) It reminds me of one of those old-fashioned movie trailers with the hero in dire straits about to perish saving the day such as what Indiana Jones made use of consistently. Allready, here's the deal. You decided to go on a l...

Are we sure that the photo on the previous page of this thread is a photo of AEM-7 904's encounter with the wild turkey ? The reason that I ask is that the tv news footage showed much more extensive damage with complete engineer's window perforation, along with metal damage in and around the window ...

I was just looking at the footage on the nightly news. There was a lot of energy there (and it puts on display Newton's Third Law of Physics which states that "For every force exerted on a body by another body, there is an equal but opposite force reacting on the first body by the second."...

Yay!!! You got it Urbie ! It had to be constantly lubricated and watched carefully and had the added precaution of being super elevated (banked) so as to bring the center of gravity down to help centrifugal forces from wanting the train to climb the track when the train said "straight" but...
