The segment south of the Fernald, OH was known as the Cheviot Hill route. It ran high above the valley on high overpasses, and the steep grade made it diffcult top run freight trains out of Cincy. The line was closed in 1978 and torn up to make way for Queensgate Yard. Amtrak's Cardinal took the B&a...

What do you mean that the 9901 and 9911 didn't make it to the modern day? Were they scrapped in 1973 during the time of the rebuilding?

Did NS really get the SD80MAC widecabs from the Conrail breakup? I thought they didn't like AC units.

Hey guys. I grew up wtih E-units! For the first 6 years of my life I lived only a mile away from the BN's triple-track raceway in Aurora, IL. MY mother would take me down to the tracks every weekday afternoon, and I would watch the parade of trains. I can still hear that distinctive thundering the E...

When did C&NW retire the last of their F-units from freight service? I know a few of them did last into the mid-80's. Where were they based out of? I know that many were in Marshalltown, Iowa.

CSXT stands for CSX Transportation, which was formed on July 1, 1986. CSX Corp. was actually formed on November 1, 1980 as a holding company for the Chessie Railroads (B&O, C&O, WM), and the Family Lines, (SCL, L&N, Georgia, Clinchfield). There was no logo, paint scheme, or anything. On ...

No, #4636 wasn't a demo. The demos became #'s 4606-4608 I think. Looks like they are still running around out there somewhere.

The 3 GP59 demonstartors were purchased by NS in 1988. Are they still on the roster?

Lets hope for the best. It would be terrible if North Judson would be isolated from the railroad world. Are they going to sacrifice the EL to keep the C&O connection?
