Re: NJTransit to borrow from MARC

So no truth to one rumor that 2 5-car sets would replace/free up existing equipment on the LB-Bay Head shuttle trains this Summer ? Why would all 10 cars be used at once? NJT rotations don't call for a 10 car train on the RVL and If you cripple one for some reason then you just shorted your train f...

PL42ACs have been used on 8-car ML sets on numerous occasions for stadium events and can regularly be found on 7-car ML sets out if Raritan.

There are three Multilevel sets on the Main/Bergen Line which are all 6 cars. In the evening rush they are on 1167, 1169, and 1173. In the morning I know one is on 1154, I think one is on 1152, but I don't know where the third one is. There are five ML sets in rotation on the Main and Bergen. Three...

The issue with >6 car trains explains why there are the three Multilevel sets when they could've just as easily put them on the NEC and kept the Main/Bergen Line all single level. They used to run a few 7 car sets in Main/Bergen service (not Port Jervis), and that stopped when the began running Mul...

17 depot tracks are used for passenger. 19 exist. During peak periods the 17 depot tracks are never empty for very long especially nif equipment is being manipulated as a result of earlier delays of service distrustions. If Midtown trains from Dover and Great Notch get thrown into the mix it can get...

Being that the MARC cars can not be combined with NJT cars due to different trainline systems, probably not. I suspect you will see one 8-car set with two MARC cars as spares in the event something is shopped.

It just went back down the other night along with 4213. However before 2018 it was in work service only for at least four years.

That remains to be a mystery. The NJ.com articles that mentioned didn't specify. As usual I can't find a straight answer anywhere.

FWIW: 4205, 4208 and 4217 were returned to active service in the last few months. All within weeks of each other, too. All that was keeping them from passenger service was bad HEPs. As a result of this order I think its safe to say the remaining two ex-CNJ (4100 and 4101) will finally be retired to ...

They're stored in the MMC completely intact. They haven't turned a wheel in years. Nobody can provide a straight answer as to what the plan is Rumor suggested they were the "floor models" for selling the rest of the fleet off. Others suggested they are a backup plan for the inevitable reti...

I did a bit of research on BUGX (Bruggere and Monson), and it looks like it's a privately owned outfit in California. Ex NJT F40PH-2CAT #4129 was sent there back in 2016. That outfit is known as DieselMotive of Stockton, CA. They are a startup rebuilder that apparently claims they can rebuild 645-b...

NJTR 4145 is the trade piece for Maryland.

The remaining GP40PH-2As are likely never going anywhere again.

4146, 4147 and 4149 have had many parts taken from them to repair other GP40s in the fleet. 4150 donated its prime mover to one of them, too.

Arrows still thrive on the Hoboken Division, but not like they used too. -GLADSTONE: All but the two 8ML midtown starts are MUs. -HOBOKEN: Two MU starts that run mostly just peak period trips. They spend the middle of the day in the Pullman Yard. -DOVER: One MU start that normally only runs one roun...

If the admins of the NJ Transit fourm will allow, I am asking for support in a contest from fellow North Jersey railfans and railroaders. A photo I took from my recent trip to Alaska has been selected by the Alaska Railroad for inclusion in their 2016/2017 calendar. It's currently up for vote as the...
