Re: #7 Subway to NJ/Secaucus

Looking at the subway map, another possibility would be to extend the WTC line of PATH east to connect with the Lexington Ave line, in effect a "WALL ST" PATH station. While this is a bit off topic for the #7 discussion, if you recall at one time before the WTC was built, PATH extended fur...

Usually they used the E-8's on the Port Jervis runs and they had the yellow stripes one the coach window borders for these. I don't think they turned them at Suffern, but there was a wye in Waldwick where I've seen E-8's being turned. A few runs originating in Waldwick used E-8's, and they were usua...

Don't forget after the demise of most streetcar lines, PSCT still ran several ASV ("all-service-vehicle" or "trolleybus") lines. These ran out of Newark until their demise in 1948. I'm not sure how many of these lines ran into Paterson (if more than one), but the one I'm fairly s...

Others will have to join in, but I know a big operation in Horseheads was the A&P warehouse and canning/milk facility which shut down in the early 80's. The was also a fire truck mfg plant, American La France. I'm not from Elmira, but lived at one time near Norwich. Up there they had 2 railroads...

Is this actually a route under consideration for operation by Amtrak? If not, this probably belongs in the SEPTA Forum. -otto- I put it under Amtrak because I suggested it should be a state contracted route for Amtrak. It's not under consideration for SEPTA either so what's the point? the service w...

Even in 1956 there was only one passenger train daily on this line, doesn't seem to have ever been too popular compared to PRR service:

From the looks of the technology it seems it can copy any object, hopefully too the moving wheels/trucks (but they won't be metal). But you would probably want to remove the motor+trucks on power cars and get some of those to add later, as I doubt it can create anything that sophisticated. Also, unl...

What's the total mileage from Saratoga Springs to North Creek?, didn't see it on their site, but it looks like a 2 hour trip. Who owned this line originally, the D&H?

BTW the Yadkin Valley line still sees some traffic, at least to Roaring River, not sure what type (grain, industrial), nor sure who operates the line anymore. But as you approach Wilkesboro, the last few miles seem to be overgrown with some small trees growing in the tracks, and once in Wilkesboro, ...

I was just there last Thursday and took 2 good-sized sets. Hadn't been to PJ in many years, sure hope there wasn't too much vandalism damage.

Check out this page, and download the kmz file. Then you will need to have Google Earth installed to open it. Quite a piece of work. You will have to zoom in and find the rail lines. Color-coded, but it takes a little while to figure out the scheme. http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=show...

Actually, I believe there are just 3 left on the site, as it was when I was there. The track only goes a few hundred yards at best. Sort of lonely and isolated, but behind a very huge warehouse grocery store which is very popular in the area, and people enjoy hanging out back there along the waterfr...
