Re: CPKC Locomotive Paint

Six months after all the hype, have any locomotives been painted in the new scheme as yet?

I would have thought the Holiday Train(s) would be a good debut, but alas the usual Action Red GP20ECOs are in charge again (not that they don't look good...)

I love how the T stores the wrecks at Riverside right out front where everyone can see them. I'm sure it inspires confidence in the riding public, especially new riders or tourists visiting Boston for the first time.

Sometime in the last couple of weeks another pair of cars arrived for testing (1912-1913), the first new arrivals in a very long time.

Freights stop at Chester every day - eastbounds sit right in front of the station waiting for westbounds to clear the single track at CP123 a couple of miles away.

Despite the seeming temporal connection, removal of the wooden escalators in Boston was not directly related to the Kings Cross fire (which was attributable to a number of factors, the wooden escalators themselves being only one of them). The escalators were replaced as part of programmed station mo...

Bangor Yard wasn't quite gone but was certainly a remnant by the time I was old enough to have a driver's license and self-propel from where I lived "out in the sticks" on the other side of Ellsworth in the late 1980s. By then of course all that was left was the Bucksport Branch; my memori...

Changing ends on a passenger train at Bangor wouldn't be a big deal if they did it during the station stop (I assume they were smart like that) - it would not have been a long "backup" move from Bangor Union Station to Calais Junction.

The existing Amtrak electrification infrastructure is designed to support a certain number of trains, which is adequate to Amtrak's present and future needs but not necessarily conducive to adding a large number of commuter trains as well. In addition to the places wire simply doesn't exist, additio...

For the first time to my knowledge, there are two sets of Red Line CRRC cars running right now (~1PM 10/10/23). As far as I can tell, there have been no new cars delivered recently, so that would mean either they are "all in" and running every one of the 12 cars on the property, or perhaps...

Before you waste a trip to South Amboy, read the URHS website more carefully - NOTE for Railfans: The engine change will occur at the “Church Connecting Track” switch at South Amboy. The property around the engine change will be closed off, and this photo opportunity is ONLY available to 40th Annive...

I've never been there in person, but that equipment has been sitting there for as long as I've known about that camera (a couple of years). I'm not sure they're there because they're slated to go someplace - may be just scenery for the adjacent little fenced in park (and passing Amtrak trains), or m...

Just got back from a trip to Montreal and took a spin on REM on a Sunday midday. I figured the initial curiosity-based ridership would have gotten it out of their system by now, and that appears to be the case. It was not enormously busy, but we were far from the only people on the train. I did note...

I could only discern two cars at first, but there do appear to be more if one "walks" down the road in Street View a ways. Speaking of Street View, those images are from December 2014. Switch to aerial view and the much more recent imagery (from 2023) seems to indicate the cars, and the si...

Welcome back, and may your "definitely not company transportation" continue to function properly for your gawking and all other needs.
