Can you update your top post? Verizon killed their complementary web hosting.

I too ride Germantown to Union. You'll also learn what conditions are bound to cause problems like clockwork. If it's below 20 degrees, the switches up by Point of Rocks will be all messed up in the morning resulting in 10-20 minute delays. If it's pouring rain, the trains will be 5-10 minutes late...

Hmmm... I wonder if the PTC between HAR and PGH is in the works, and if the two installs will be compatible.

An odd thought here: Are the Siemens Chargers that MTA Maryland is getting for MARC also rated for the long-haul that is PGH-PHL? I would have to guess that they're half-way there if they can do Martinsburg (MRB) to DC (WAS). That would solve half the problem of power if the Chargers can make the ro...

When a train is "rescued" with a protect engine, the dead engine is bypassed electrically.

I dont know if this is the correct section for reporting out of normal moves. I think this is Ex MBTA 66 seen today 17 March in an East bound freight at Berea OH. Picture courtesy of Railstream Yep, that's the ol' MARC 66 GP40WH-2. They got sent up to MBTA to try and get their commuter rail service...

They just got back one of the LR cars from the rebuild, and posted a "Peel-off reveal". https://www.instagram.com/mtamaryland/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

MTA occasionally posts pics of the tear down and rebuild. For Light Rail, it can't come soon enough.

Doubtful. They were announcing the canceled trains last week along with the "S" schedule for Presidents Day announcement. Makes me wonder why go there and not with a Saturday or Sunday schedule.

I think this is the second time MTA Maryland has went on an "S" schedule... but cancelled some early trains (400,401,505,404). What's the thinking behind that? There's demand going back northbound into Baltimore (including this person)

Is this the Track 1 platform they just finished rebuilding?
Within the past five years, yes!

Just catching up on this thread, which passed me by. If we add the sleeper cars, timing may not be so bad. Once again, looking at the schedules at Pittsburgh: Capitol Limited DC Bound: Arrive from Chicago 5:05A leave 5:20A, arrive DC 1:05P Pennsylvanian NY Bound: leave 7:30A, arrive Harrisburg 12:55...

Just a historic word on MARC train service during the storm: Friday: "S" schedule (limited service per schedule) Saturday, Sunday, Monday: No service. Tuesday: Severely limited service, "S" schedule but with more trains missing on the Penn line, Brunswick/Camden trains had only a...

(On a minor note, stretching four-tracking down to BOWIE will mean some minor reconstruction to Odenton and Bowie State stations. Odenton's northbound platform will need to move back a good train car width and change, but won't need any tunnel alterations. It'll be considerably cheaper than Bowie St...

If you read the EIS off MTA Maryland's project page , this is exactly what they're doing: Four tracks, platform access to all four. It was well known that having northbound trains switch tracks at Grove to serve BWI was a real pain in the transmission. It was why before Halethorpe got the high platf...
